2004 Soul Beach Musical Festival Stars
Parade of stars at Jamaica Me Krazy
During the Soul Beach Music Festival 2004, a parade of star entertainers picked
Aruba's authority on soul food as its neighbourhood cafe, coming in at all times
for a nibble or a meal. Jamaica Me Krazy's (JMK) owner, Danny Wilson, happens
to be the Jamaican Consul here. Escorting Sharon Burke, Jamaica's number one
Entertainment Consulant, the two met Sean Paul, Jamaica's Grammy Award singer
as he touched down at the American Airlines gate. Later that afternoon Sean Paul linked
up with old time friend, DJ Danny Jr. - Platinum and Ice - and made a special
order of brown Stewed Fish, Ackee and Salt Fish from JMK. Saturday, Sean Paul and
Dougie Fresh - he served as the Soul Beach Music Festival emcee, picked JMK for
their interview with Black Entertainment Television, BET. That interview created quite
a commotion as young fans swarmed the small restaurant, living to get a glimpse of their
hero. Sean Paul and Dougie Fresh were very accommodating, allowing the multitude of fans
to approach them, and to pose for pictures.
P.S. Soul BeachMusic Festival, the 2nd Aruba edition, will be aired in July
2004 on BET.

That Saturday evening, Sean Paul sold out the concert here, playing Dance Hall rhythm
for almost two hours. Musician Wyclef Jean, who, according to general consensus, was
the best preformer of the festival, visited JMK with his entourage and family members. They
ordered Steamed Fish, and licked their plates clean. Goapele, a young singer of Jewish,
South African origins, dropped in with her group, making time for photo sessions with patrons.
Sunday Wyclef revisited JMK and ran into Chaka Khan and her entourage. The diva who requested
new linen and new pillows, Fiji water abnd lavender candles lit in her room one hour prior to
her arrival in addition to fresh fruits and flowers, is obviously very picky, yet she called the
restaurant for some more Brown Stewed Fish and asked it to be delivered Back Stage prior to
her performance. The parade of stars continued at JMK, with Bryce Wilson of NBC Saturday
Night Vibes series, comedian Mark Curry and his crew, Vanessa Williams of HBO Soul
Food Series, they were all daily patrons eating Special Roots Rock Rasta Vegetarian Dishes, at
JMK, basically a healthy combination of Ackee, Callaloo, Cabbage and Carrots. DJ Fred Loe
of L.A. was a daily visitor, as well. How they heard about the place, you ask. It's simply Dougie
Fresh discovered the pearl and told everyone plugging JMK and its delicious cuisine during his
stage monologues...
